have you ever fallen in love with someone because of their voice
Imagine your favorite character gently poking your nose and going “boop”
there was this meme going around yesterday all, give me a character and an age and i’ll write about them at that age, so instead i just wrote a headcanon fic about a bunch of mass effect characters at different ages, past and future. 13: john shepard. 22: kaidan alenko. 80: joker. 7: james vega. 135: garrus vakarian. 20: mordin solus. 700: urdnot bakara. 900: liara t’soni. 29: steve cortez. 85: kolyat krios. unknown: EDI. a cut involved cause this got long.
JOHN SHEPARD - 13 GALACTIC STANDARD YEARS
Finch really screwed up their night, blowing point, missing the target—then slowing Shepard down. He held the medigel pack to his forehead; it throbbed. There wasn’t enough of the stuff left to heal the cut before it scarred, only enough to numb the pain into silence.
One of these days, Shepard thought. One of these days, he was gonna run with a crew he could trust. Somebody to have his back. Somebody to take point when he said take point. A real squad—or something like that. If those even existed anymore.
KAIDAN ALENKO - 22 GALACTIC STANDARD YEARS
‘You ever kill a man in combat, recruit?’ TOs sure liked asking that question. And Kaidan’s answer was always the same—a salute and nothing more. A stiff sir cut out of his throat by his tongue, never answering the question. Those nights, head ringing, feet sore, he bunked up and closed his eyes, elbow propped at the base of his skull, seeing blue on the backs of his eyelids instead of red. Just like that, he was at brain camp all over again—not knowing if it was sudden anger or a twisted sense of justice that had him tearing Vyrnnus apart.
Or something else. Maybe something else.
JEFF ‘JOKER’ MOREAU - 80 GALACTIC STANDARD YEARS
‘And still wearing the same hat,’ EDI said.
When she touched the gray of his beard, her cool palms warmed from his breath just like skin. That was how metal alloys blushed.
‘Hey now,’ Joker said. ‘That thing’s been through just as much as I have.’
